On May 17, Silver Springs Shores Church in Ocala, Fla., hosted a Community Service Day. The event focused on members who made concerted efforts to assist those deprived of basic necessities.

Growth in the Silver Springs Shores community is immense and includes new agencies to help those with various needs. Helen Shirley, Director of Community Services, suggested extending invitations to the new agencies. The response was overwhelming. Among those present at the event were teachers, doctors, social workers, and law enforcement personnel.

“The Community Service Day celebration is, indeed, great,” said George Patterson, a major from the Salvation Army. “It is a good way to help individuals become knowledgeable of available assistance.” He also commented on the warmth and friendliness he encountered and looked forward to visiting the church again.

Silver Springs Shores Church distributes food, clothing, and personal hygiene items the third Wednesday each month. Small books and tracts are also available.
